The Furnals first established a grocery business in the former IGA store at 25 Hovey Street in 1970. To better serve the Hilton community, the property at 138 South Avenue was purchased in 1983 and remodeled. Again, to better accommodate the ever-growing needs of Hilton's population, a 28,000 square foot store opened in January 1990 offering many innovative conveniences. Recently the store has been completely remodeled and updated, including new refrigeration cases. Ray Furnal has retired to North Carolina, and his son Rick has taken over the operation of the business.
Customer Service is still the main priority and Rick is proud of the relationship he and his father have maintained over the years with their customers. Customer conveniences also include the unique Easy Shop Card – a combination check cashing and video rental card that also eliminates the need to clip store coupons.
Rick always welcomes input from customers on how Big M can serve you better.
